John 17:3, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

Regardless of who you are or what your reasons may be for reading this book I want to pray for you and then ask you to pray with me.

First my prayer for you as the reader is as follows, “Heavenly Father, I come to you in the awesome name of Jesus Christ and humbly ask for you to use this simple book to exalt and lift up your One and Only Son.  May your words, found in the Bible, come alive by the Holy Spirit and convict all who read it of your unchanging truth.  I ask that the eyes of everyone’s heart would be open to understand who Jesus was, is, and will always be!  For you said in Isaiah 9:7, “Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.  He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.”  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!”

Now I would like to ask you to please humbly pray this simple prayer out loud to open your heart towards God, “Heavenly Father, I ask in the name of Jesus that you would send your Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth so that I might be saved and live a life pleasing unto you.  For you said in Isaiah 1:18-19, “18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. 19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land.”  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!”

I would like to end the introduction with the timely words Jesus spoke to the Jews who believed and took interest in Him as recorded in the book of John.  I believe that today these words powerfully express the heart Jesus has for all those who truly seek Him.  John 8:31-32, “31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  May we all believe in the real Jesus, know and hold to His teachings found in the Bible, and experience the freedom that only His truth can bring!
